William J. Rothwell is president of Rothwell & Associates, Inc. (see www.rothwellandassociates.com) and professor of workforce education and development on the University Park campus of The Pennsylvania State University. He has been actively involved in many recent ASTD competency studies with 20 years of full-time experience as a learning practitioner before he became a university professor. A frequent seminar and keynote speaker at many conferences around the world, he has authored, co-authored, edited, or co-edited 83 books and 200 articles in the training and development and related fields such as human resources, organization development, succession planning, and talent management.

Jennifer Naughton is the senior director of competencies & credentialing at ASTD. She led ASTD's most recent competency model effort and also launched ASTD Certification Institute's Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) certification program. She is a people systems architect with more than 20 years of experience in consulting, competency model development, and personnel selection and assessment research. She is passionate about finding innovative and progressive solutions to address human resource challenges in organizations. Jennifer has a master's in human resource development from George Washington University and is a recognized Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).
