Associate Director, ATD

Holly Batts is associate director of ATD's Certification Institute and has more than 15 years of experience working in the nonprofit sector. Her background in developing and maintaining certification programs includes mid- to high-stakes assessments, extensive work with organizing SMEs, and a thorough understanding of the certification process. Holly holds a master of science degree in organizational leadership as well as Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified Association Executive (CAE) certifications.

Safety and Development Specialist, Arborwell

Sarah Cusack, APTD is Safety and Development Specialist at the professional treecare company Arborwell, based in Hayward California. After creating a new role as Arborwell’s instructional designer and eLearning developer, Sarah earned her APTD certification in July 2020. Given that the treecare industry has not historically placed a strong emphasis on employee development or on integrating technology into training, discovering ATD and creating new avenues for learning has been an exciting challenge. Sarah is passionate about creating tools to help others reach their full potential, and is excited to take the CPTD exam in April of 2021!

Training Program Manager, Statistical Center for HIV/AIDS Research and Prevention (SCHARP)

Victoria Nelson, APTD, joined the Statistical Center for HIV/AIDS Research and Prevention (SCHARP) for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in 2019 as Training Program Manager. She partners with leadership and key stakeholders to design and deploy learning and development solutions in support of strategic goals. She creates learning programs to develop the capacities and capabilities of employees, improve engagement, and increase retention. These programs also support SCHARP's values, growth initiatives and reinforce role competencies.

Prior to the Fred Hutchinson Center, Victoria worked at Quorum Review IRB for nine years as a learning solutions specialist on the corporate training team, developing her craft as an instructional designer and trainer. In this role, she was responsible for both creating and sourcing a variety of training and development opportunities for the organization, facilitating new employee orientation and other classroom and lab sessions, managing the IRB industry’s professional certification program for Quorum, and serving as LMS administrator.


Kara Reed
Kara Reed

Instructor Professional Development

Kara Reed joined Freeport-McMoRan in 2018 as an instructional designer and developer. She moved into a role developing instructors in 2019, and she currently coaches, instructs, and develops learning programs for instructors.

Prior to this, she was Assistant Director of Second Language Writing in the Department of English at the University of Arizona. She received her Master’s in English Language & Linguistics and Ph.D. in Second Language Acquisition & Teaching. She has taught in China and in the US, designing and delivering various courses on instructional methods, language, and intercultural communication. 


Gregory Rollins
Gregory Rollins

E-Learning Instructional Designer, Terumo BCT

Gregory Rollins is an e-learning instructional designer at Terumo BCT, a manufacturer of medical devices relating to blood component and cellular technologies. In his current position, Greg is responsible for creating e-learning solutions for global field service. Greg is in every sense an accidental trainer. He started his career as an electronics technician in the United States Navy and has worked several technical jobs, including aerospace technician and industrial automation technical customer support. Greg credits his technical background as being one of the things that makes him a good instructional designer. It gives him the ability to learn new technologies and to teach complex technical concepts in a way everyone will understand

Greg earned his Associate Professional in Talent Development (APTD) certification in June of 2019. In 2016, after 10 years of going to college when he had time, he obtained a bachelor’s degree in business management with a specialty in marketing from Colorado State University – Global.
