Matthew Valencius is the leader of IBM's internal instructional design capability. He and his global team of learning designers are responsible for creating learning materials for IBMers across all roles and countries, which generates measurable business value at scale and efficiently. He and his team are motivated by a fundamental belief that learning design is a broad and deep technology that can help people everywhere improve their performance, become more successful, and create a better world.

Matt has held many roles within IBM Learning with a theme of creating innovative and award-winning training offerings and technologies. He is an experienced learning designer, consultant, application architect, and project manager. Matt lives in the Boston area and holds an MBA with a specialization in HR management from the Herriot-Watt University/Edinburgh Business School. He also holds an engineering degree from Harvard College.
